Distribution Inspector - Trunk Mains Date: 4 Feb 2026 Company: DWR Cymru Cyfyngedig Welsh Water Plc City: Swansea Address: Swansea, Wales, GB, sa6 5bq Job Requisition Number 8354 Work Type Permanent Job Function Operational Salary £27,089.00 Base Clydach Closing Date 23:59 on 18/02/2026 What you’ll be responsible for As a distribution inspector, you will be contributing in a course of action to resolve potential or actual Distribution/Leakage issues in order to minimise the level of inconvenience to the customer. Your responsibilities will include: Demonstrating a keen willingness to constantly work as part of a team Achieving and maintaining the area leakage targets Reacting and working alongside all other departments during Silver & Gold incidents Ensuring that all GIS updates are submitted to GIS bureau to allow Welsh Water to maintain high quality information Ensuring Welsh Water leakage targets are met using various techniques to reduce leakage Ensuring the proper application and compliance with all company health and safety procedures, with the safety of colleagues and customers always in mind Effective liaison with colleagues in the distribution team during normal work practice and in times of emergency, arriving at network/leakage solutions Making sure the correct details are entered onto the various IT systems on a daily basis Ensuring correct working practices are adhered to on site in and out of hours Conducting visual inspections Representing Welsh Water throughout the lifecycle of projects, assisting as necessary the partner through the project development, planning, approvals and statutory processes Dealing with sometimes difficult situations in a friendly and professional manner, whilst striving for a speedy resolution Making recommendations for the improvement of the network Efficiently organising your own time, handling routine work with a minimum of supervision, assessing priorities within your area of work and managing those priorities Who you’ll work with Internal Management Team within Welsh Water Local Operational teams Customer Services External Members of the Public Welsh Water Customers Local government Contractors About you Knowledge, Experience & Skills A full UK drivers licence Experience of the water industry A good level of Network/Leakage experience Effective communication skills The drive and ambition to provide a first class service to our customers Willingness to both work alone and as part of a team when required The ability to build and maintain good networks with internal departments, company partners and contractors The ability to work to tight deadlines and in difficult circumstances, whilst still providing an unbiased service to our customers Good to know A full UK Drivers licence is required for the role The successful candidate will be required to participate in a standby rota A company vehicle will be provided For more information on the role please contact Andrew.Prosser@dwrcymru.com Benefits As well as a market competitive salary, 33 days annual leave (pro rata, including public holidays), we offer a range of employee benefits and rewards including: Variable pay schemes (your salary band will remain the same, but performance depending, you could receive an incremental within-band increase and a yearly incentive) Option to buy additional annual leave up to 5 days per year Enhanced employer pension contributions – Up to 11% employer contributions Free Mortgage Brokering Services Enhanced family friendly policies Progression opportunities, including the ability to apply for funded training and coaching and mentoring programmes Gym and fitness discounts as well as high street shopping Cycle to work scheme Discount off all Welsh Water visitor attraction centres and gift shops Car-leasing scheme and free on-site parking at all sites Health CashBack scheme and access to an online GP service An employee assistance programme for employees and their immediate family Many more can be found on our website.
