Production Maintenance Shift Engineer – Hatfield
£46k plus £3,600 on call allowance.
We’re looking for an experienced Shift Engineer to join a well-established maintenance team based at our Hatfield head office. This role sits within the MHE department and focuses on keeping equipment running safely, reliably, and to a high standard. You’ll be responsible for maintaining and servicing a range of material handling systems, responding to breakdowns, and carrying out planned maintenance. The role is fully onsite, five days a week, working a rotating shift pattern.

06:00 – 14:00
14:00 – 22:00
The role
* Carry out electrical maintenance on material handling equipment
* Fault find and test PLC and three-phase systems
* Respond to machine faults and complete planned maintenance tasks
* Provide emergency response for essential equipment breakdowns
* Maintain machinery and equipment to agreed standards
* Identify and rectify defects in a timely manner
* Support facilities activities when required
* Complete time sheets, task documentation, and manage stock control
* Order consumables and handle related administrative tasks
What we’re looking for
* Qualified, time-served technician with a strong electrical background
* Proven experience fault finding in a fast-paced production or operational environment
* Previous PLC experience is beneficial
* Experience maintaining automated material handling equipment or similar systems
* Self-motivated, flexible, and comfortable working as part of a team
* Clear and effective communication skills
* Able to work at heights
* Strong practical understanding of health and safety requirements
* Health & Safety qualification or training in high-bay racking access equipment and controlled descent rescue procedures
Qualifications
* City & Guilds or BTEC in Electrical Engineering
* Basic mechanical skills
* Working knowledge of automated material handling equipment
