The Process Engineer leads and oversees process design activities, delivering process design packages and engineering deliverables that meet quality standards.
Coordinates various aspects of process engineering including design, interdisciplinary support, planning, inspection, and procurement.
Ensures independent technical assurance and challenges contractor process design deliverables to protect technical integrity, operability, and long‑term reliability objectives.
Leads technical decision‑making and process engineering governance during critical project phases.
Reviews critical project design documents and drawings, such as design basis PFD and P&ID, from contractors and vendors.
Provides technical leadership and independent process engineering assurance for all activities, including multidisciplinary coordination and design reviews.
Ensures full compliance of contractor engineering deliverables with project scope, company standards, engineering philosophies, and international codes and standards.
Leads technical coordination and interface management with licensors, vendors, contractors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Participates in HAZOP/LOPA/SIL and other process safety studies, ensuring technical risks and operability concerns are properly addressed.
Incorporates maintainability, accessibility, and constructability considerations into design.
Ensures proper design reviews during 30%, 60%, and 90% milestones, meeting company requirements, standards, and procedures.
Drives contractor engineering performance, technical quality, and timely resolution of engineering review comments.
Identifies opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, energy efficiency, and schedule improvement while maintaining technical integrity and safety requirements.
Identifies design gaps and challenges contractor engineering assumptions.
Ensures plant operability, controllability, maintainability, and startup/shutdown considerations are incorporated into design.
Reviews and validates process control philosophies, safeguarding philosophies, and participates in process optimization and techno‑economic evaluation studies.
Supports engineering change management and design freeze activities.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline; master’s degree is a plus.
10–15 years of relevant experience in large‑to‑mega projects, with at least 3 years Saudi Aramco experience.
Experience with process simulation tools such as HYSYS, PRO II, Flare System and other relevant process design and safety tools.
Experience simulating steady‑state and dynamic systems.
Experience in developing H&MB, heat integration, PFD/P&IDs/MSDs, LDT, and in design/specification/selection of process equipment, instruments and hydraulics calculations.
Experience participating in and contributing to Safety Assessment Reviews.
Knowledge of HTRI/HTFS, column trays/packing design, corrosion and material selection, CFD modelling is a plus.
Familiarity with AOC’s standards and procedures preferred.
Good knowledge of English, both written and verbal.
Advanced computer skills with MS‑Office.
Strong experience in FEED and detailed design development.
Strong understanding of process operability and process control interaction.
Advanced experience in dynamic simulation and flare/depressuring studies.
Strong knowledge of Saudi Aramco standards and international engineering codes.
