We’re looking for a confident, strategic thinker with strong digital and audience development skills to lead our marketing, communications and fundraising efforts during what could be an exciting year of personal development and growth for Cast. This is a fixed-term position ideal for someone looking to step up into a senior role and make a real impact.
You’ll work closely with the Director and Senior Management Team to shape and deliver marketing campaigns, grow audiences, enhance customer experience, and drive income through ticket sales, memberships, partnerships and fundraising. You’ll lead a small, skilled team and have the chance to influence the direction of Cast’s brand, voice and public presence.

Post Title: Head of Marketing & Development at Cast (Maternity Cover)
Responsible to: Director

CollaborativeWorking:Extensive cross departmental working; external partners and consultants
Function:To maximise earned income for Cast through ticket sales, fundraising and development and commercial activity.To develop the profile of the Cast brand.
Salary: £35 - £38kfull time salary(dependent on experience)
24 hours - 37 hours a week

Duties and Responsibilities
STRATEGY
1. To work with the Director and senior management team in formulating, planning and implementing Cast’s vision and ambitions, policies and business plan.
2. To devise, develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy for Cast.
3. To formulate, develop and deliver income generation strategies encompassing ticketsales, front of house trading, café bar, membership schemes, donors, business partnerships and funding applications.
4. To develop Cast’s overall strategic identity and brand identity, offline and online communications, marketing, sales, participation, audience development, audience engagement and public relations strategies, with a clear and agreed, focussed action plan for implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
5. To understand the needs and interests of varied stakeholders, including audiences, artists, media, arts partners, donors, influencers, general public, trusts, and public funders.To establish and maintain partnerships at local, regional and national level.
6. To oversee the customer journey, encompassing all users, to ensure customer experience is always excellent.
MARKETING & SALES
1. Develop and lead the marketing and sales team in line with Cast’s vision and business plan.
2. Overall responsibility for the marketing and development budgets and targets.
3. Review and maintain the quality of the customer service offer through continuous feedback channels including offline and online feedback
4. Toanalyseand interrogate box office sales, data and other statistical records and assessall marketing information available through Audience Finder and Spektrix and use this data to inform audience development and engagement strategies and to maximise earned income.
5. Tostayabreast of innovative marketing and communications developments, particularly within the theatre and creative industries sector.
6. Tokeep pace with all digital developments relating to the promotion and delivery of artistic work on digital platforms. To manage and develop the website and social network sites maintaining a consistent Cast voice across all platforms. To develop new digital strands of communication, use of digital technology and to increase digital engagement by our audiences and participants.
MEDIA/PR
1. Develop and implement an organisational and campaign-specific media andpublic relations strategy (including working with colleagues to ensure a crisis management strategy is in place).
2. To foster and develop good relations with all areas of the media in the region and beyond, ensuring that maximum coverage and publicity is achieved for all events and activities.
3. To work closely with the Director on all statements issued to the media relating to Cast, specific productions, projects or activities. To liaise with other partners as necessary to ensure messages are consistent and appropriate. Act as spokesperson.
FUNDRAISING AND DEVELOPMENT
1. Working with the Fundraising Manager, Director, senior management team and the Cast Board, to develop the fundraising strategy, taking account of all aspects of programme, services, capital and development needs, and the current funding context, including setting and achieving specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and clear targets.
2. Work with the Fundraising Manager, Director and senior management team to identify and pursue potential sources of fundraising.
3. Develop the membership schemes motivating the sales teams to maximise membership sales.
4. To work with the Director, Board and Fundraising Manager in funder/sponsor/corporate relations, making new contacts, developing relationships and cultivation events.
5. To work across departmental teams to ensure delivery of fundraising and income generation targets.
GENERAL DUTIES
1. To assist the Chief Executive (or designate) and their appointed staff in all practical matters as directed, relating to the efficient and effective operating of the activities and functions of Doncaster Culture and Leisure Trust.
2. To undertake to work additional/flexible hours as directed or necessary (possibly at short notice) as required by the Chief Executive and their appointed staff to meet operational manning levels.
3. To work within a performance management framework.
NOTE: These duties and responsibilities should not be regarded as exclusive nor exhaustive, as the post holder may be required to undertake other reasonably determined duties within Doncaster Culture & Leisure Trust, commensurate with the grading of the post.
