Pre-Operative Assessment Sister – Hemel Hempstead Full-time | Permanent | Competitive Salary Benefits We are working with a leading private healthcare provider to recruit an experienced and dedicated Pre-Operative Assessment Sister to join their Ward team in Hemel Hempstead. About the Provider Our client is at the forefront of private healthcare, offering a full spectrum of services on-site including outpatient, dental, physio, diagnostic, and day-case surgery facilities. By integrating consultations, testing, imaging, and surgery under one roof, they provide seamless patient pathways and outstanding care every day of the year. Situated in Hemel Hempstead with free on-site parking and excellent access to the M1 and M25, the organisation is committed to staff development and creating a supportive, high-quality working environment. The Role As Pre-Operative Assessment Sister, your responsibilities will include: * Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Pre-Operative Assessment Department. * Ensuring patients are thoroughly assessed, prepared, and informed for their procedures. * Maintaining high standards of safe, effective, evidence-based care aligned with the NMC Code and local/national standards. * Leading, developing, and continuously improving the pre-operative service. * Supporting quality governance frameworks and standards. This is a 37.5-hour week role on a 7-day rota, including weekends and bank holidays, with flexibility to meet operational requirements. About You The ideal candidate will have: * Registered Nurse with completed Pre-Operative Assessment (POA) course/module. * Proven experience in pre-operative assessment and managing patient care pathways. * Significant senior clinical experience with team leadership responsibilities, including supervising nurses and HCAs. * Strong ability to motivate teams, manage performance, and drive service improvement. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and healthcare professionals. * Ability to make sound clinical judgments, resolve complex issues, and adapt to changing situations.
