Overview of the role
The role of the Senior Social Care Worker is to provide support and guidance to a team of social care workers, whilst making sure you always provide the highest level of care and leadby example. You will also liaise with the seniors in the home reporting any matters of concern.You must have experience in the care sector and have the willingness to learn and expand on your previous knowledge. Not only will you make a huge difference topeople’s lives, but you’ll be able to enjoy days out, trips away and join in with many more activities, all of which ensures the people we work with are safe, happy and lead fulfilling lives.
Key duties
* Taking the lead withsupporting adults with learning disabilities and complex needs in a residential care environment
* Supervising a team and assisting withthe overall management of the home
* Liaising with managers and other shift leaders
* Executing any tasks allocatedin a professional, timely and accuratemanner
* Supervisingand sharingmealtimes with residents to encourage a positive attitude towards food and dining
* Assisting residents in their daily activitieswhether this be in or away from the home
* Using your initiative when supporting residents during their activities and with day-to-day tasks

Where will youwork?
Elliott House is a large, detached house in Fleet, Hampshire, five minutes’ walk from the town centre. The home provides residential support to nine men and women of varying ages with moderate to severe learning disabilities and associated complex needs. There is plenty of communal space including a large shared lounge, a dining room, kitchen and a conservatory that leads out to a safe, secure garden with a summer house. In the back garden a separate building has been adapted for sensory activities, arts and crafts, IT and computing, education and music, and also has a second lounge. A fully-equipped kitchen also allows residents to develop their food preparation and cooking skills. Elliot House is ideally situated, close to shops, pubs and local facilities, with Fleet railway station close by. It’s a lively home, with lots going on. Residents enjoy bowling, swimming, going to the cinema and the theatre, visiting social clubs and going out for meals. The home has its own transport for local travel and regular outings to the seaside and local farms and attractions.
