This role involves working closely with a multi-disciplinary team to develop and integrate modular payloads onto advanced maritime platforms. You will contribute to designing high-performance solutions for modular marine craft used in defence and commercial operations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about mechanical design and modular system integration.
Our client is an established MOD specialist known for delivering high-performance craft for defence and maritime applications. With a growing order book, they are expanding their module integration team to support scalable, multi-role vessel systems.
While marine design experience is highly desirable, candidates from other sectors such as automotive or aerospace with experience in systems integration, complex assembly design, or lightweight structures are also encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
* Perform Space, Weight, and Power (Electrical) - SWAP(E) assessments for payload integration
* Develop 3D CAD concepts and detailed models using Siemens NX
* Create manufacturing and assembly drawings for prototypes and production
* Design components and interfaces using metals and composites, ensuring system integration
* Create high-quality renderings and visuals for clients and marketing
* Participate in design and integration workshops with stakeholders and suppliers
* Collaborate with systems, electrical, and control engineers to develop functional solutions
Qualifications:
Essential:
* Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related field
* Proficiency with 3D parametric CAD (preferably Siemens NX)
* Understanding of structural design principles and SWAP(E) analysis
* Experience with metallic and composite materials
* Good time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
* Effective communication and teamwork skills
Desirable:
* Experience in marine, naval, or military engineering
* Familiarity with rendering tools, VR, or immersive models
* Experience in automotive or aerospace design
* Knowledge of 3D printing and additive manufacturing
* FEA experience with composites or metals
