Experience
The post holder will have evidenced experience of advising on a wide range of HR issues, including disciplinary, grievance, capability, redundancy, and TUPE matters. They will have demonstrable experience of managing complex HR cases and providing advice on a range of statutory and sector-specific frameworks, including the Green Book, Soulbury Committee, Burgundy Book, the School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Document, School Staffing Regulations, School Governance arrangements, and the Academies Financial Handbook.
They will have experience of working with schools in an HR capacity, or clear evidence of the capability to do so. Experience of delivering training sessions, working within a unionised environment, and participating in union consultations is essential. The role also requires experience of project work and handling confidential and sensitive information appropriately. These criteria will be assessed through the application form and interview process.
Skills and Abilities (Including Personal Attributes)
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. They will be able to build and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of clients, ensuring professional credibility and high standards of customer care.
They will have experience and/or understanding of managing customer expectations within Service Level Agreements and be confident in facilitating discussions across a range of settings. The role requires the ability to analyse information, assess situations, and make sound decisions, often in challenging environments and under pressure. A tactful and diplomatic approach is essential, along with the ability to work independently and on personal initiative.
The post holder must be able to understand and apply guidance and procedural documentation and demonstrate a good working knowledge of employment law within an HR context. They will be a strong team player with a flexible approach, capable of organising a busy workload and managing a demanding work agenda. Excellent time management skills are required, with the ability to balance competing priorities effectively.
Competence in IT is essential, including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and HR information systems such as Business World.
Qualifications and Training
The candidate must hold a minimum of two A-level passes or equivalent qualifications. They must be fully CIPD qualified or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience alongside evidence of ongoing continuous professional development.
