About The Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Management Accountant to join our finance team. Reporting into the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis, this role is responsible for producing insightful financial reporting, overseeing budgeting and forecasting, and driving process improvements. The successful candidate will line manage a small team of accountants, supporting their development and ensuring high performance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead the preparation of monthly management accounts, including variance analysis, actionable insights, and commentary for your respective subsidiaries.
2. Lead the preparation of balance sheet reconciliations, producing year-end accounts and audit packs for your subsidiaries.
3. Manage and develop a small team of qualified and part-qualified accountants.
4. Oversee and produce budgeting and quarterly forecasts alongside your senior stakeholders.
5. Provide stakeholders and operational staff with an effective business partnering service, focusing on improving the quality of financial information and processes, as well as ad hoc financial analysis and insights to support operational and strategic decision-making.
6. Collaborate with multiple senior stakeholders, including board members, the executive team, and operational staff.
7. Work closely with the Commercial and Development teams, providing robust financial information and costings to support commercial negotiations and tender submissions.
Your Skills and Experience
1. Ideally a qualified CIMA / ACCA accountant.
2. Proven experience in a management accounting role, preferably across multiple companies, working with year-end statutory accounts, external audits, and group reporting.
3. Experience working collaboratively with senior stakeholders and operational staff, providing insightful financial analysis and forward-looking forecasts, including highlighting risks and opportunities.
4. Good commercial acumen, ideally with experience of commercial pricing for tendering and costings.
5. Curious, analytical, with strong communication and collaboration skills.
6. Proactive and growth mindset, a change agent for driving process improvements and challenging the status quo.
7. Highly organized, calm, and confident when working under pressure.
8. Good leadership and team management skills.
9. Ability to interpret complex written and numerical information and summarize it in an accessible way.
