About the Role
As an Employment Relations Investigation Officer, you will play a central role in supporting the delivery of fair, consistent and timely employment relations casework. You will lead and conduct high-quality investigations into a range of employment related matters including disciplinary, grievance and other complex people issues.
You will work closely with managers, OD & HR colleagues and Trade Union representatives to ensure that cases are handled professionally, sensitively, and in line with policy, legislation and best practice. This is a hands on role that offers real scope to influence how we embed positive employee relations and strengthen our culture across the Council.
What You'll Be Doing

* Advising managers on investigation processes, best practice and procedural requirements.
* Gathering evidence through interviews, document review and data analysis while maintaining confidentiality and neutrality.
* Supporting the development of consistent employment relations practice across the organisation.
* Contributing to continuous improvement of policies, procedures and manager capability.
* Promoting a positive, collaborative working environment aligned with the Council's values.
About You

* Skilled in managing sensitive and complex cases with fairness and professionalism.
* An excellent communicator, able to build trust, engage with stakeholders and present findings clearly.
* Highly organised, detail-focused and able to work independently.
* Confident in applying employment law, policy and best practice (or eager to develop further in this area).
* Above all, you will bring integrity, sound judgement and a commitment to supporting a positive employee experience.
Why Join Hull City Council?
* Be part of an OD & HR team passionate about culture, people and organisational improvement.
* Opportunity to shape a brand-new role with real influence.
* Access to ongoing professional development and support.
* Flexible working, generous annual leave and an excellent local government pension scheme.
* A strong focus on wellbeing, inclusion and collaborative working.
