We are seeking a Product Development Engineer to join our team. This is a key role within our global Product Development team, responsible for designing, developing, and implementing innovative mechanical products that drive growth and enhance our impact protection portfolio. The ideal candidate is creative, self-motivated, and thrives in a collaborative, hands-on environment. Key Responsibilities Lead product development from concept through production, ensuring functional performance, aesthetic quality, and manufacturability. Build, assemble, and test prototypes to validate design intent and performance. Identify and implement improvements to existing product lines, focusing on cost reduction, functionality, and ease of manufacture. Develop line extensions and custom adaptations in response to customer needs or production opportunities. Create accurate 3D models, technical drawings, and detailed specifications using SolidWorks. Manage engineering change notices and maintain comprehensive documentation for all product iterations. Partner with internal teams (sales, marketing, operations) and external suppliers to ensure seamless development and launch of products. Provide technical support to customer teams and attend on-site visits for installations, trials, and development feedback. Deliver projects on time and within budget, tracking milestones, managing timelines, and proactively addressing risks. Critical Success Factors Strong proficiency in SolidWorks and engineering drawing standards. Ability to develop innovative solutions with aesthetic appeal and functional excellence. Comfortable assembling and testing prototypes and working in real-world environments (e.g., installation sites). Highly organized with strong time management and follow-through on project deliverables. Clear communicator who works well across departments and with suppliers and customers. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field. Minimum 4 years of hands-on engineering/product design experience. Proficient in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred). Experience with prototyping, mechanical testing, and collaborating with suppliers or manufacturing partners. Must be commutable to Milton Keynes.
