We’re hiring a Venture & M&A Analyst to join Simplyhealth Ventures, the investment arm of Simplyhealth.
Simplyhealth Ventures is our venture capital fund, which aims to deploy £60m over the next 3-4 years in pioneering, UK-focused, early-stage predictive and preventative healthcare businesses in the Healthtech sector.
We’re incredibly proud of our growing portfolio and to support some of the most exciting early-stage businesses in digital health that will shape the future of UK healthcare. Our Ventures portfolio supports Simplyhealth’s vision and purpose: to improve access to healthcare, for all in the UK.
The fund invests in Seed to Series B stage businesses with initial investments of £500k to £2m with the view that the fund will become evergreen with returns being reinvested into new investment opportunities.
This newly created role working with the Associate Director will be critical in allowing Simplyhealth Ventures to move from a reactive investment approach to a more proactive investment approach. You’ll work with both Simplyhealth Ventures and the Simplyhealth Group, getting involved in all aspects of the funds process and providing valuations, due diligence and transaction support on new venture opportunities, existing investment follows ons, and inorganic opportunities.
Responsibilities include:
1.Market research and pipeline
oUndertake market research on pre-identified healthcare sub-sectors to identify the winners and best investment opportunities.
oOwn the pipeline for investment opportunities.
2.Investment appraisal
oBalance the financial and non-financial merits of a business.
oFeed in any findings to the other Ventures team members.
oWork closely with the external stakeholders, advisors and lawyers as and when required.
3.Valuation and Business modelling
oReview financial statements of organisations and appraise business plans & projections.
oApply valuation methods to derive a value for the business.
oAssist in the valuation of the portfolio.
4.Financial due diligence
oIn conjunction with the Ventures team, undertake various forms of due diligence on opportunities.
oLiaise with other stakeholders internally & externally for other forms of due diligence & advice, as required.
5.Reporting
oSupport the production of board level reports and memos, namely the investment committee memos on the most exciting opportunities.
oAssist in the presentation of findings to the Executive Committee, Investment Committee and Board to help inform their decision making on investments.
6.Investment monitoring
oMonitor portfolio companies with financial and non-financial analysis.
oPeriodically report portfolio performance to the Ventures team, Executive Committee and Investment Committee.
7.Ad hoc transaction, strategic and valuation related work for the Core operations to support the wider business with areas in which this role will become an expert in.
