Position: PMLD SEN Teacher Location: Aylesbury Start Date: September 2025 Salary: £29,344 - £44,919 Contract: Full-Time About the Role We are looking for an experienced and compassionate PMLD SEN Teacher to join a specialist school in Aylesbury. This is a unique opportunity for a dedicated educator with a passion for supporting students with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) to thrive. The successful candidate will be instrumental in delivering tailored education programs that address the complex needs of these learners, fostering an environment of trust, routine, and care. Key Responsibilities Personalized Learning: Plan and deliver highly individualized lessons that align with EHCP outcomes, focusing on sensory engagement, communication, and life skills. Collaborative Approach: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, and occupational therapists, to develop and implement therapeutic support strategies. Specialized Communication Techniques: Utilize a range of alternative communication systems such as PECS, Makaton, Eye Gaze, and other relevant methods. Physical and Personal Care: Support physical well-being and personal care routines for students, always with dignity and sensitivity, while helping with mobility and health care plans as required. Classroom Environment: Create a nurturing, structured, and safe classroom environment that supports students’ learning and emotional needs. Continuous Assessment: Observe and assess students regularly to adapt teaching methods and track progress, ensuring effective learning pathways are in place. Parental and Agency Collaboration: Maintain strong communication with parents, carers, and outside agencies to ensure a cohesive, integrated approach to student support. Team Leadership: Support and guide teaching assistants to promote a positive and effective classroom environment. Requirements Experience with PMLD: Proven experience working with children or young people with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) or other complex SEN needs. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): You must hold QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification. Expertise in Sensory and Communication Needs: A deep understanding of sensory processing needs, communication challenges, and medical/physical requirements of students with PMLD. Collaborative Skills: Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with specialists in physiotherapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy. Behaviour Management: Strong skills in managing behaviour with a compassionate and structured approach. Safeguarding Knowledge: Up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child protection.
