Support work is fun, people-facing, challenging, and very rewarding, and it is also a deeply empathetic journey. It is more than a job; it is an opportunity to provide invaluable support, led by the people you will be supporting. You will work alongside Kiritaki in the community, assisting them with day-to-day activities and supporting their goals. This may also include supporting people who sometimes express themselves in ways that can be difficult or challenging, such as through strong emotions or behaviours, often as a response to their environment or experiences.
Responsibilities May Include
* Supporting exercise programmes
* Assisting with accessing the community
* Assisting with personal cares (showering, bathing)
* Assisting with household management and meal preparation
* Bowel, Bladder, and Catheter cares
* Moving and handling hoists and manual transfers
* Medication support
Job Location: Nelson, Richmond, Motueka
Employment Type: Part Time
We offer a range of employment opportunities including casual, part-time, and full-time positions, which will be discussed further during the recruitment process.
Days of Work: As this is community-based work, rotating rosters would be involved and may include am, pm and weekend work. Your preferred hours of work can be discussed during the recruitment process.
The duration of these hours may vary, ranging from shorter to longer periods, depending on the specific needs of the people we support.

You are a calm but confident natured individual who can demonstrate resilience and understand the challenges of service users. There are many responsibilities associated with being a support worker which can be challenging and fulfilling. It is rewarding when you are part of the support that enables a person to live their best lives in the community.
The Candidate Would Have (Candidate Pre-Requisites)
* Ideally prior personal care experience is preferred
* Familiarity with complex medical conditions, like spinal injuries, traumatic brain injury
* A Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification is beneficial and those looking to enter the healthcare sector will also be considered (comprehensive training can be provided)
* Access to a car and ability to drive independently (a full New Zealand Driver's License is a must)
* Flexibility to work on a rotating roster
* Legal right to work in New Zealand is a must.

* Pay Band: $24.13 - $30.78 per hour (This is based on the Pay Equity Settlement 2017 – hourly pay rates based on equivalency of Healthcare Qualifications assessed under Pay Equity).
