Who You Are We are seeking a qualified and experienced children’s social work manager to join our team as part of the Safeguarding & Support Service. As a Social Work Manager, you will help manage one of five social work teams in Herefordshire, focussed on safeguarding and support work. You are someone who is committed to providing high-quality supervision and case direction with an emphasis on improving outcomes for children. You demonstrate a proven record of effective service delivery, including managing staff and budgets, while successfully implementing quality improvement methods to meet challenging performance expectations. What the Job Involves As a Social Work Manager, you will manage a team of social workers and family support workers within our locality structure. You will focus on relationship-based and restorative practice, working collaboratively with families to improve outcomes for children. You will serve as part of a service management team to embed good practices while working closely with the Council’s Legal Team to complete court applications. Your role involves providing regular supervision and case direction, ensuring alignment with court timescales, and supporting staff in their professional development. You will operate primarily from the Leominster Multi-Agency Office, with the flexibility for remote work as needed, but some in-person meetings and office attendance are required each week. Skills Degree in Social Work or equivalent Significant post-qualification social work experience Social Work England registration Experience in child in need, child protection, PLO pre-proceedings, care proceedings, and adoption work Strong communication and decision-making abilities Experience managing staff and budgets Commitment to quality improvement and service delivery Ability to work collaboratively within a local authority framework
