Finance Manager - Capital

The Finance Manager Capital will lead the Trust's capital accounting, capital reporting, and fixed asset management functions. The post holder manages the capital programme, ensures compliance with NHS capital regulations, and provides expert financial advice to project managers, clinicians and senior managers. The role maintains the fixed asset and lease registers, supports statutory accounts production, and acts as the finance business partner for all capital schemes. The post holder line‑manages the Assistant Financial Accountant and plays a key role in the Trust's annual planning and capital investment process.
Responsibilities
* Lead monthly capital reporting and ensure accurate delivery of the Trust’s Capital Resource Limit.
* Maintain the fixed asset and lease registers, ensuring compliance with NHS accounting standards.
* Provide expert financial advice to project managers, clinicians, and senior leaders.
* Support the development of capital business cases and long‑term capital planning.
* Line‑manage and develop the Assistant Financial Accountant.
* Play a central role in the production of statutory accounts and audit processes.
Qualifications
* Newly Qualified / CCAB Finalist
* Demonstrate Continuing Professional Development
* Education to degree level or equivalent
Experience
* Experience of working within an NHS Finance Department
* Have extensive experience in Capital Reporting
* Knowledge of HM Customs & Revenue recovery of VAT on capital projects
* Business case development aligned to DHSC / HM Treasury business case guidance
* Experience of working at a senior level across a range of finance functions
