Organisations across the Nottinghamshire Integrated Care System (ICS) have come together to create an exciting new rotation post across health and social care, offering rotations within physical health, mental health and social care in acute community and rehabilitation settings.

Job Summary

Are you a newly qualified Occupational Therapist who is unsure about what speciality to work in? Are you someone who likes variety and lots of opportunity for learning ?

If the answer is "YES" then we have the perfect job for you in Nottinghamshire!

Organisations across the Nottinghamshire Integrated Care System (ICS) have come together to create an exciting new rotation post across health and social care, offering rotations within physical health, mental health and social care in acute community and rehabilitation settings.

Each rotation cycle will be 6 months, allowing you to learn a variety of skills in a number of different settings. many of the skills you will learn within this rotation will be transferable, and will give you a breadth of experience to help you develop into an experienced therapist and beyond!

Each organisation is committed to your development and growth within Occupational Therapy. You will be supported throughout the rotation with a comprehensive support package including supervision, preceptorship, peer support groups, skills to build, in-service training and more.

Main duties of the job

To assess, plan and develop treatment programmes for adult citizens with a wide variety of complex physical needs in a community setting this may be in citizens own home or in a community rehabilitation provision.

Determine clinical diagnosis and occupational therapy treatment indicated and to maintain records as an autonomous practitioner working with supervision.

To be responsible for continuing the on-going development of high standards of clinical practise and expertise within the service, contributing to the implementation of specific changes to practice and service protocols and making a professional contribution to the work of a multi-disciplinary team.

Job Purpose

Dimensions

To be responsible for the delivery of an occupational therapy service to citizens within own locality for citizens referred to the service.

To support clients to improve or maintain their level of function and quality of life and plan future care in an appropriate setting in partnership with multi-disciplinary team (MDT) colleagues, including liaising, supporting and referring on to health services, voluntary services and public sector agencies.

To participate actively in the services training strategy, including in-service training, organisation-specific and multi-agency training.

To assess for, provide, demonstrate and fit adaptive equipment using problem solving, and analytical skills.

To accept clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of clients, and to organise this effectively with regard to clinical priorities and use of time and ability to be flexible and respond at short notice to the needs of the service.

Working within a legal framework, gain informed consent to treatment and have the ability to identify through assessment, clients who lack the capacity to consent.

To demonstrate a sound understanding of Clinical Governance and Risk Management and apply to a work situation.

To conduct and report on clinical risk assessments as and when appropriate.

Professional

To undertake the comprehensive assessment of clients, including those with a complex presentation using investigative and analytical skills through standardised and non standardised assessments. Formulate individualised treatment plans with rehabilitation goals using clinical reasoning in consultation with senior therapists as required. This should be based on sound theoretical knowledge, utilising a wide range of treatment skills, and options to formulate a specialised programme of care.

To advocate on behalf of clients and carers, where appropriate, overcoming barriers to communication such as cultural or language difficulties, physical or mental health difficulties, using skills of empathy to facilitate or empower the client.

To be involved in the development of good practice for occupational therapist within Nottingham CityCare Partnership CIC and Social care under the guidance of senior staff.

To complete patient/client records in line with organisation, regulatory body and legal requirements.

To represent the service externally and actively participate in the services marketing strategy when required, conducting presentations to a wider audience, including voluntary and public sector agencies.

To demonstrate a commitment to evidence-based practice and the use of outcome measures and make recommendations for change. To have a good understanding of the research process, and be willing to participate in local research and audit when appropriate.

To be responsible for own Continuing Professional Development, keeping abreast of new recommendations, research and developments, incorporating them into your work as necessary. Attend relevant conferences and external training courses. Support more junior staff to do likewise.

Qualifications

Essential


* Recognised OT degree/diploma.
* HCPC registered (or pending registration for final year OT students).
* Evidence of commitment to CPD.
