Overview
The University of Leicester is seeking an outstanding senior clinical educator to take on the role of University Lead for Simulation within the Leicester Medical School. This part‑time appointment (0.2 FTE) is offered for three years, subject to satisfactory educational appraisal, with the potential for renewal. The postholder will provide overarching leadership for the design, delivery and strategic development of simulation‑based education across years one to five of the MB ChB curriculum, working across acute, community and general practice settings. Simulation activity is centred within the University’s state‑of‑the‑art Simulation Centre at Leicester (SC@LE), based in the Robert Kilpatrick Building at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.
Responsibilities
* Provide overarching leadership for the design, delivery, and strategic development of simulation‑based education across the MB ChB curriculum.
* Shape a coherent and innovative simulation curriculum that supports the development of clinical skills, patient safety, communication, teamwork and professional identity.
* Lead and support simulation fellows, contribute to assessment and scholarship, and play a key role in ensuring that simulation remains central to a high‑quality, future‑focused medical education.
* Work closely with academic and clinical colleagues across the University and its partner providers.
Qualifications
* Medically qualified professional with full GMC registration and a licence to practise, holding a substantive clinical post at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.
* Significant experience delivering and leading clinical simulation within undergraduate or postgraduate medical education.
* Strong interest in educational innovation and scholarship, and confidence in designing and delivering high‑quality learning and assessment, including OSCEs.
* Ability to work effectively across multiple clinical and educational partners.
* Postgraduate qualification in medical education and a track record of scholarly activity in simulation are desirable.
