Retail Store Manager
£26,259 - £30,804 plus benefits
Reports to: Area Manager
Department: Trading
Contract: 6-month fixed term
Hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week
Location: Southampton Portswood, Shirley, and Ferndown shops

Role overview: We’re seeking a motivating store manager to join our trading team. You’ll act as an ambassador for Cancer Research UK, motivating your team to maximize sales and fundraising targets. Your store will be a community hub where people learn about our work and see our impact.
Key responsibilities:
* Guide, inspire, and engage a diverse team of paid staff and volunteers, including recruitment, retention, and development.
* Take ownership of the store’s commercial operations, including display, merchandising, stock management, standards, layout, sales, and income.
* Lead by example, providing excellent customer and supporter service.
* Maximize profit through effective cost control and sales strategies.
* Build relationships with the local community and colleagues.
* Organize and run creative fundraising events to meet targets.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety, safeguarding, security, administration, and HR policies.
* Perform manual handling and physical activities as part of daily duties.
Candidate requirements:
* Experience managing and inspiring a diverse team.
* Comfort working within targets and motivating others.
* Ability to multi-task in a lively environment.
* Knowledge of excellent customer service.
* Commercial awareness and understanding of high street fashion retail.
* Adaptability to changing situations and ability to work independently.
* Awareness of pricing, value, and item worth.
* Flexibility to work on a rota basis, balancing business needs with personal life.
