Overview
This role is responsible for providing nursing services for endovascular patients in an Office-Based Lab (OBL) setting. The Procedural, or OBL, Nurse will collaborate with clinical leadership in managing, executing clinical duties, and patient care, always acting within scope of practice and under the supervision of the attending surgeon. Responsibilities are performed within the limits set by the physician staff and in accordance with the Massachusetts Board of Nursing statutes.
This role reports to the Office Manager for operational matters and to the Lead OBL Nurse for clinical matters.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Uphold the standards of AAAASF.
2. Assist with daily operations of the outpatient endovascular center, including:
1. Review scheduled cases ahead of time.
2. Maintain infection control standards.
3. Stock medications, supplies, and equipment.
4. Ensure the center is adequately staffed.
5. Maintain safety standards throughout the center.
6. Maintain patient and narcotic logs.
3. Responsible for patient care, including:
1. Oversee patient experience from pre-procedure to discharge.
2. Monitor and administer sedation.
3. Ensure timely patient calls before procedures with adequate instructions and answers to questions.
4. Provide post-procedure follow-up calls within 24 hours.
5. Ensure medical records are comprehensive, including medical history.
6. Observe patient vital signs during procedures.
7. Maintain patient records systematically.
8. Ensure patient comfort by stocking refreshments and snacks in waiting areas and refrigerators.
9. Assist with managing the Quality Assurance Program.
10. Maintain safety standards according to AAAASF requirements.
11. Oversee equipment maintenance and checks per AAAASF standards.
4. Perform other duties as directed by clinical leadership.
5. Assist in clinic operations as needed.
Requirements
* Graduate from an accredited nursing school with a minimum of a BSN.
* Registered nurse in the state of Massachusetts.
* BLS and ACLS certification.
* Experience in ICU or ED is required.
* Previous sedation experience is required.
* PACU experience is helpful.
* Ability to stand for prolonged periods.
* Ability to follow oral and written instructions precisely.
* Willingness to be available for local and regional assignments as needed.
* Effective communication skills with patients, visitors, and staff.
* Proficiency with computerized systems and related devices.
