Job Description:
The service manager is responsible for coordinating staff and resources to achieve high standards of care, considering the physical, social, and psychological needs of service users. They ensure the welfare of service users and compliance with organizational standards, statutory, and contractual requirements. The manager operates within a legislative framework, ensuring all practices align with current laws and guidelines, and promotes the organization's values and care ethos within the team and home.
The area Service Manager will oversee and support managers across 5 supported living projects and community activities for adults and children at Lynton Community Care. They will report directly to the Registered Individual.
Key Responsibilities
* Responsible for referrals, including assessments, liaising with previous care teams, families, and advocates to develop personalized care and risk management plans.
* Maintain good communication and relationships with service users, relatives, and professionals involved in their care.
* Ensure compliance with relevant statutory requirements and best practices, including the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (revised 2012), Health & Safety, COSHH, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
* Control and monitor the home environment, ensuring health and safety legislation is followed, risks are managed, and the environment remains safe.
* Work with CIW to understand and adhere to the Fundamental Standards, and carry out statutory notifications as required.
* Manage legal and statutory documentation related to the home, including insurance and enrollment documents.
* Document maintenance issues and ensure appropriate actions are taken.
* Monitor and investigate complaints, generate reports, and implement corrective actions and improvements.
* Assist with staff recruitment, induction, and training to meet all team requirements.
* Promote a culture of openness and honesty, supporting staff decision-making and service improvements.
* Hold regular staff meetings, support staff development, and provide supervision opportunities.
* Build positive relationships with staff, ensuring effective communication mechanisms are in place.
* Participate in disciplinary processes, including suspensions, investigations, and decisions, consulting HR when needed.
* Manage staff scheduling, including shift coverage, absences, holidays, and sickness.
* Oversee medication management, including ordering, disposal, and audits.
* Manage budgets and monitor expenditure, including petty cash, shopping, and activity budgets.
* Safeguard service users and address safeguarding issues proactively.
* Work with paid personal representatives to ensure care plans comply with Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
* Be on call out of hours for advice and incident response.
* Attend supervision and prioritize continuous professional development (CPD).
* Contribute to strategic decision-making and business growth.
* Perform other duties as assigned by the Director, appropriate to your skills and competence.
* Manage financial aspects and audit behavioral reports as necessary.
The service manager must have skills and qualifications supporting both adults and children living with learning disabilities.
