This is a hands-on role with a 12-month training plan, giving you the chance to learn every aspect of warehouse operations, from day-to-day operations to people management. ​ On target earnings: £36,000 per year. Excellent company benefits and career progression. ​ Our business is seasonal, so flexibility is key, shift length will vary throughout the year, with the longest shift being 12 hours during peak periods (6am-6pm). If you're not afraid of hard work and want a role that rewards effort, this is the opportunity for you. ​ Job title: Trainee Warehouse Supervisor ​ Reporting to: Warehouse Manager ​ Responsibility for: Learning to support the supervision of warehouse personnel, with training provided to develop leadership and organisational skills. Assist in the training and guidance of team members under supervision. Support warehouse operations while gaining experience in people management and logistics. ​ Location: Germinal GB Ltd Lincoln ​ Overall purpose of the job: To support the Warehouse Manager in the day-to-day operations of Germinal GB’s Lincoln (Witham St Hughs) warehouse while developing the skills and experience to progress into a supervisory role. The role involves learning to coordinate team activities, ensure accurate order dispatch, maintain health and safety standards, and contribute to a safe and efficient warehouse environment. ​ ​ Key activities: ​ 1. Assist with the accurate and timely picking, packing, and dispatching of customer orders. 2. Help maintain high standards of packaging and product quality. 3. Learn to coordinate courier collections and understand the dispatch schedule. 4. Support and follow health & safety policies, including manual handling and equipment use. 5. Maintain a clean, organised and efficient warehouse space. 6. Gain experience in operating and maintaining warehouse equipment including forklifts and pump trucks. 7. Assist with checking stock levels, reporting discrepancies, and participating in stocktakes. 8. Learn to communicate effectively with internal teams including office and ecommerce staff. 9. Begin to take responsibility for daily task coordination and assist in motivating the team. 10. Support visitor sign-in processes and basic site security procedures. 11. Contribute ideas for operational improvements and report challenges to the Warehouse Manager. 12. Support accurate goods receipt and correct placement into stock. 13. Monitor the condition of pallet stacks and assist with safe vehicle loading/unloading. 14. Ensure forklifts and equipment are safely stored and charged at the end of the day. 15. Learn to supervise PPE use and uphold H&S compliance across the team. 16. Liaise with the wider team to ensure smooth coordination across departments. 17. Assist in preparation for twice-yearly stocktakes. 18. Take responsibility for the respectful use and safeguarding of warehouse equipment. 19 To perform the job in accordance with our policies and procedures, especially the Equal Opportunities and Harassment Policy. 20. To perform any other duties as may reasonably be required from time-to-time. ​ Any specific requirements: ​ Working Hours: Standard hours with overtime during peak seasons. Travel Requirements: Minimal travel, primarily site-based at the Lincoln warehouses. ​ Person Specification: ​ Essential: ​ Full UK driving licence. Experience with stock control. Proven track record of working in a physically demanding, manual role (e.g., construction, agriculture, logistics, or similar. Strong communication skills. Ability to motivate and supervise a team. Good organisational skills. Ability to work on own initiative. Strong people-solving skills. ​ Desirable: ​ Forklift certification. Experience working in a warehouse environment, including responsibilities such as receiving deliveries, picking and packing customer orders, stock rotation, and operating handheld scanners or warehouse software. Experience with ecommerce logistics. Basic IT skills, particularly with warehouse management software (e.g., tasklet & smartfreight). ​ What you can expect when you join Germinal: ​ Pay of £13.00–£13.50 per hour, reviewed in July each year. 32 days holiday (including statutory days) increasing with years’ service, pro rata for part time employees.
