The Housing Assistant will support Housing Officers in delivering local housing services, including:
* Interviewing and advising customers on their housing prospects and needs
* Interviewing customers at tenancy sign-up and during key tenancy changes, such as termination
* Maximising income for the Council and minimising rent arrears
Requirements include:
* Relevant experience dealing with the public in person and on the telephone
* Working with figures and proficiency in Microsoft Office packages
* Knowledge of housing services, estate management, and debt recovery
* Effective customer service and communication skills
* Numeracy skills and the ability to handle upset or angry customers confidently
You should be able to use your initiative in decision-making and be flexible to work at different locations as required.
Desirable qualifications include:
* A National Certificate in Housing or equivalent
Please note, this is a temporary position, subject to business needs and funding, for 9 months or until the requirement ceases, whichever is earlier.
