Job / Role Title: Estimator: Responsible For: Assistant Estimator Location: London Bridge – Brighton Responsible to : Commercial Estimating Manage Estimator or MD Salary & Package £75,000 per annum. Expenses – all travel for work purposes covered. Holiday – 20 days plus bank holidays 3-5 days for Christmas shutdown. Hours – 7:30 – 5pm Monday to Friday IT – Company laptop and phone provided. Pension – Empoyee 4%, Employers 3%, 1% tax relief. Our client: Is an experienced regional contractor delivering new build, design and build and refurbishment solutions to both the public and private sector throughout London and the South-East. They specialise in education, commercial, healthcare, super-prime residential and cladding remediation projects across which we have developed an extensive portfolio of successfully delivered projects. Our client were set up to provide a Tier One Contractor approach to managing a project professionally and safely to small and mid-size regional projects. Their first projects were carried out within the educational and residential sectors, where we have developed a strong portfolio. They then expanded their expertise to deliver high-rise and multi-unit façade remediation works; providing cladding and render replacement to buildings in both London and the South-East They aim to have a controlled £50 million turnover by 2025. Main Purpose & summary of role: To support the generation of profitable tenders for authorization and submission, in order to maximize the order pipeline and its conversion into market share, revenue and operating profit within the business unit. To estimate the costs of projects in order to meet or exceed customers’ requirements. To determine contractual, financial, technical and operational risks and to find opportunities to minimize risk and maximize gross profit. To support the fulfilment of the pipeline of contracts safely, on time, and to the required quality while maximizing gross profit and customers' satisfaction. To implement all policies including those for SHE and risk management. To promote values towards its customers in order to meet or exceed their expectations and fulfil the vision of becoming the most highly respected company in the industry. Main Duties: To implement SHE Management System, policy and procedures and all legal requirements To allocate resources within delegated authorities To take advantage of opportunities to develop oneself & others To implement best practice To support the achievement of the annual financial budget (operating profit) for the business unit To propose the costs for projects To propose estimating resources for projects To support the generation of tenders To lead, manage and motivate the estimating staffs on projects and to establish their full commercial contribution to the organization To implement policies and values To recognize and promote best practice throughout the business unit To implement policies and procedures To support the winning of contracts while minimising risk and maximising gross profit In particular: to estimate the costs for tenders to negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to support value engineering To propose the costs for tenders To embody values towards its customers and to promote its vision to become the most highly respected company in the industry To meet or exceed the expectations of external and internal customers and contribute to achieving the greatest possible satisfaction for all customers in all their dealings. To support the process of assessing, preparing (including post-tender activities), validating, adjudication and final submission of tenders on time and to the required quality In particular: to minimize the costs of subcontracts and materials to liaise with the design, planning, commercial and bid management functions to support ‘value engineering’ To negotiate prices with subcontractors To negotiate prices with suppliers if agreed by the Finance Director To support negotiations with customers during the tender process To propose options for costs To support ‘value engineering’ To support the commercial relationships with customers, consultants, contractors, suppliers and subcontractors during the tender and fulfilment processes In particular: to build and maintain a portfolio of suppliers and subcontracts to support the tendering process to obtain ‘Bills of Quantities’ To develop and build relationships with customers, contractors and subcontractors that support the tender process and the fulfilment of contracts To support the handover of tender to the project team (procurement, contract management, commercial management and project management) To support the project teams to fulfil contracts safely, on time, and to the required quality while minimising costs In particular: to support the achievement of the project cost budget to conduct reviews to coordinate detailed requirements with suppliers and subcontractors to support ‘value engineering’ To assess, control and mitigate risks and implement risk policy in particular to recognise financial, technical and operational risks within tenders and to identify opportunities to minimise risk and maximise gross profit To identify the correct & suitable suppliers and subcontractors so as to minimize risk and maximize gross profit Ensure that you are compliant and committed to the code of conduct set out and contained within the handbook. Skills, attributes and Qualifications; IT literacy including Word, Excel, Email Minimum HNC or HND qualification (preferred) Membership level RICS or CIOB, NVQ level 4 or a proven history of relevant experience.
