JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Worcester Polytechnic Institute's Humanities and Arts Department invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor in African American and African Diaspora History for the 2024-2025 academic year, beginning in August 2024. We especially invite scholars working on the United States and the Americas, in any period, deploying transregional, international, comparative, and/or global perspectives and methods. We are particularly interested in scholars with a demonstrated record of teaching who can contribute to the department’s thematic areas of focus in Africana Studies; gender, sexuality, and women’s studies; and/or histories of science, technology, and medicine.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Job responsibilities will include:
1. Teaching 6 courses and 2 capstone inquiry seminars in History and International and Global Studies.
Qualifications:
2. Ph.D. in History, American Studies, or African American Studies is preferred; terminal degree in another relevant fields considered.
3. Candidates should have earned their PhD by August 15.
4. A track record of successful classroom teaching at the university level.
5. The ability to work creatively and collaboratively across disciplines with faculty, staff, and students of various experience levels.
