· Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Care Assistant to join our team in providing exceptional care to residents in our care home. The ideal candidate will possess compassionate care skills and a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for seniors. As a Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting both residents and staff, ensuring that the highest standards of care are maintained.
Responsibilities
To be kind, caring, patient and considerate to residents at all times when assisting residents in all aspects of their care needs (e.g., physical, emotional, and spiritual).
· To assist the residents in personal care including washing, bathing, dressing and toilet needs, having regard for their choices in respect of routines, likes/dislikes etc.
· To report any accidents or unexplained injuries immediately to the Senior in charge.
· To assist the residents in rehabilitation activities under the guidance and supervision of the Owner/Manager and trained staff and to participate in social activities in conjunction with the activity worker in order to enhance the residents' quality of life. In the absence of the activity worker, social activities and quality time with residents should be continued.
· To contribute to the safeguarding of adults by ensuring you are aware of the contents of the home's Safeguarding Policy and knowledgeable about what steps to take if you have any concerns about the abuse or neglect of any service user. That you are conversant with the home's recording and reporting mechanisms to inform the Owner/Manager or Senior in Charge of any concerns.
· Maintain clear, accurate and up-to-date records of information relevant to the individual's well-being and their care or support e.g., communication book, turning charts, daily logs etc.
· To assist in the cleaning of the Home as the need arises, particularly dining areas after meals and to support infection control e.g., cleaning up spills immediately.
· To pay due respect to residents' possessions and to ensure that bedrooms and communal areas are tidy and presentable.
· To ensure readiness to commence work at the time stated on the Duty Rota and not to abandon duty without permission from the Owner/Manager or Senior-in-charge.
· To report to the Senior in Charge any changes in individual resident's condition and any other relevant matter, noting especially any changes in skin condition.
· To respect the rights of service users including privacy and dignity.
· To assist in the serving and clearing of meals, snacks, and drinks.
· To assist service users to eat and drink, monitoring intake and reporting any concerns to the Senior in Charge.
· Complete all food and fluid charts and any other daily monitoring records as requested.
· To undertake the Diploma in Social Care and any other training necessary for the completion of your duties. To be aware of mandatory training and dates to attend training.
· To attend staff and other meetings as requested.
· To undertake any other duties as and when required.
· To abide by all of the home's Policies and Procedures.
· To respect the confidentiality of the residents and the home life at all times, including when you are using social networking systems.
