Job Title:Experienced Mechanical Dive Technician (Onshore/Base)

Position Overview:
Orca Oceanic Systems are seeking anExperienced Mechanical Dive Technicianto join our onshore team supporting diving operations in the North Sea and Worldwide. Based at our workshop facility, you will be responsible for the inspection, overhaul, and certification of complex diving systems, ensuring operational readiness for offshore deployment. This role is suited to a seasoned technician with hands-on experience in maintaining both surface-supplied and saturation diving systems in line with IMCA and UK HSE standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Equipment Maintenance & Readiness
* Perform inspection, maintenance, repair, and testing of mechanical and diving support equipment (e.g., dive control panels, hydraulic tools, compressors, LARS, umbilicals).
* Ensure all equipment complies with industry standards (IMCA, DNV, etc.) and company safety requirements.
* Maintain accurate maintenance records and equipment certification status.
* Coordinate mobilisation and demobilisation of equipment for offshore projects.
2. Workshop & Inventory Management
* Manage workshop tools, spares, and equipment storage.
* Organise loadouts and maintain accurate inventory logs.
* Conduct pre- and post-job equipment checks and refurbishments.
3. Technical Support for Tendering
* Assist the Tender/Commercial team with:
* Technical input for diving and mechanical scopes.
* Equipment specifications and layout proposals.
* Estimation of manpower, tooling, and mobilisation requirements.
* Identification of project-specific equipment modifications or upgrades.
* Review client specifications and ensure technical compliance in tender submissions.
4. Documentation & Compliance
* Prepare and maintain technical documentation such as test reports, method statements, and certification packs.
* Support audits and inspections related to equipment and workshop operations.
5. Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ)
* Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with company HSEQ procedures.
* Actively participate in toolbox talks, risk assessments, and safety meetings.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
* 5+ yearsof hands-on experience maintaining diving equipment in an offshore or onshore support role.
* Recognised technical qualification (HNC/HND or NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical or Marine Engineering).
* Proven track record working with:
* Kirby Morgan helmets and accessories (nice but not essential)
* LARS and dive control systems
* HP/LP air compressors and gas panels
* Strong knowledge of IMCA guidelines and UK HSE diving rules.
* Experience with workshop-based pre-mob/demob cycles.
* Competent in reading engineering schematics and interpreting certification requirements.
* IMCA-recognised Diving Technician Certificate (Mechanical discipline).
* Familiarity with equipment from manufacturers such as Kongsberg, Amron, Swagelok, Bauer, etc.
* Forklift, rigging/lifting, or pressure testing certification.
Working Conditions:
* 100% Onshore/Base role(minimal offshore travel).
* Based in a dive equipment workshop at Orca’s offices.
* Standard Monday–Friday schedule, with flexibility during peak periods.
* May involve physical work, pressure testing, and lifting operations.
* PPE and full compliance with base safety procedures required.
