Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to individuals in various settings, including nursing homes, care homes, and assisted living facilities. This position requires a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for seniors and those with disabilities, ensuring their comfort and dignity at all times.
Responsibilities
* Provide personal care and support to clients, including assistance with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and meal preparation.
* Administer medication as prescribed and monitor clients for any changes in health or behaviour.
* Assist with mobility and transportation needs, including driving clients to appointments or social activities.
* Develop and implement care plans tailored to individual client needs, ensuring adherence to best practices in patient care.
* Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being.
* Maintain accurate records of client progress and communicate effectively with healthcare professionals regarding any concerns or changes.
* Support clients with Alzheimer's and dementia care, employing behaviour management techniques as necessary.
* Perform light housekeeping duties as required to maintain a safe and clean environment for clients.
* Participate in case management meetings to discuss client needs and progress.
Experience
* Previous experience in senior care, home care, or caregiving is highly desirable.
* Familiarity with medical terminology and understanding of health conditions related to ageing is beneficial.
* Experience in nursing home or hospice care settings is an advantage.
* First aid certification is preferred; training may be provided for the right candidate.
* Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting clients with mobility needs is essential.
