A Steadman & Son is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of roofing and cladding profiles, supplying high quality cladding materials across the whole of the UK, offering total roofing and cladding solutions, in a wide range of insulated panels, single and twin skin systems and secondary steelwork including purlins, rails and eaves beams.
We are currently looking to recruit an Electrical Engineer to join Steadmans, our complete one stop-shop for metal roofing and cladding business based at Warnell, near Carlisle. You’ll be working alternate early and late shifts to cover the operating hours of the site - 06:00 – 14:00 and 14:00 – 22:00. The lean maintenance team support the maintenance of a busy manufacturing process, including general maintenance and asset care programmes.
What you'll be doing:
As an Electrical Engineer, you’ll be expected to work both on your own initiative and as part of a team, with duties including the repair and maintenance of buildings, factory equipment and completing maintenance schedules. You will also attend occasional breakdowns, undertake safe and efficient repairs, and ensure good housekeeping and good manufacturing practice in accordance with site policy. All work must be carried out competently, safely and efficiently, including compliance Point of Work assessments and Safe Systems of Work in line with our Zero Harm Policy.
You will advise on spare parts and services necessary to support processes, assist in maintaining service/inventory records and advise your manager of potential ideas or improvements, as well as alerting them to any potential safety observations or concerns.
What you'll bring:
1. Either recognised qualifications in an Electrical related discipline or time served in a recognised Apprenticeship with the ability to demonstrate experience in a similar multiskilled role, or a track record of working within a manufacturing environment
2. Excellent demonstrable working knowledge of preventative safety measures, including SSOW/Lock Out Tag Out, in addition to a good understanding of Health, Safety & Environment best practice and policies
3. Core electrical competences with complexed Electrical Control Systems including PLC Automation Controls, Servo & Variable Speed drives
4. Have a good understanding of Electrical installation & testing
5. Demonstrate a good level of Electrical trouble shooting, fault finding and understanding corrective diagnosis
6. Have a good underpinning knowledge of machinery processes including modern process drives and process technology
7. Excellent communication and numeracy skills, with a very good attention to detail and good IT skills
8. Flexibility, adaptability and the ability to work using your own initiative
9. The ability to build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and work as part of a team
