CMDP is a joint venture between Costain and MWH Treatment. The venture will deliver critical investment to water and wastewater infrastructure across the Kent & Sussex region from 2025‑2030. As a Procurement Apprentice at CMDP, you will gain first‑hand experience in a dynamic environment, learning how to support and enhance procurement processes, engage with suppliers, and contribute to sustainable procurement initiatives. The role is based in Falmer, Brighton.

Purchasing and Supply Chain
Responsibilities
* Forge strong relationships with the supply chain through supplier and stakeholder engagement.
* Support the Procurement Team by enhancing processes and championing lean thinking throughout the supply chain and sustainable procurement strategy.
* Improve supplier sustainability performance; coordinate with the procurement team to incorporate sustainability aspects into tenders and contracts.
* Participate in supplier sustainability forums and share best practice with the wider Procurement Team.
* Create a bank of information on sustainable supply chain activities and performance – case studies, reporting, data on lower‑carbon materials.
* Act as the Procurement Team’s contact with the Supply Chain Sustainability School, utilising their resources.
* Learn to formulate and issue tender enquiries, respond to queries, compare tenders, negotiate terms, and place final orders.
* Ensure approved requisitions are received prior to procurement activities, with accurate and timely material ordering via the E1 system.
* Produce quotation comparisons and recommendations for internal review and audit purposes.
* Maintain excellent communication with internal clients and the supply chain to ensure an efficient, timely, and high‑quality procurement function.
* Ensure compliance with Costain and project procurement procedures and processes.

Qualifications
* Minimum of 5 GCSEs, Grade 4/C, in Mathematics, English Language & or Science/Engineering subject.
* Minimum of 96 UCAS Points, at A Level / T-Level, all subjects considered.
* Other Level 3 qualifications may be considered.
* Vocational equivalents at level 3 or higher will also be considered as equivalent to UCAS points.
* Functional Skills Level 2 will also be considered as equivalent to GCSE Grade 4/C.
Additional Requirements
* Candidates must achieve appropriate security and medical clearances upon conditional offer.
* Interview invitation requires proof of passport and/or right to work documentation.
* Ability to travel to remote project sites may be required.
