The objective of this role is to improve the company's margin, managing a team of Commercial Analysts to deliver a schedule of price reviews and other commercial activity. The role also encompasses setting catalogue list / street prices; proactive monitoring of customer / product margins; forecasting demand for seasonal stocked products (e.g. diaries and fans); and working on other commercial projects as required.

Responsibilities As The Head Of Commercial Development
* Maintaining the customer price review schedule, ensuring all material customers are included
* Ensuring that all customer price reviews are completed on time, passing on price increases, optimising products and identifying other opportunities to improve margins
* Monitoring changes in cost prices; ensuring they are passed on in commercial reviews; and (where appropriate) initiating campaigns to pass on material increases quickly, outside of the planned customer review schedule
* Working with Finance to develop reporting of customer-specific Net GP / "cost to serve" / contribution, and using this information to focus margin improvement activity
* Providing Service Reviews, OPTIMISA / Green OPTIMISA / MPM models (etc.) as required
* Providing analysis and support to other commercial activities, such as sales forecasts, promotional selling, catalogue updates and management information
* Providing the sales team with a compelling customer presentation, explaining why price increases are required
* Providing a consistently high level of support to the Sales team and other departments in resolving commercial enquiries
* Day-to-day management of the team of Commercial Analysts
SKILLS/ ABILITIES
Essential
* In-depth knowledge of margin management, particularly in a contract environment
* Strong numeracy
* Strong people-management skills
* Strong knowledge and experience of using MS Excel spreadsheets for data analysis
* Sound knowledge of other MS Office programs (in particular Word, PowerPoint)
* Sound knowledge of P&L concepts related to sales, margin and the cost to serve
* Experience of data reporting through PowerBI
* Proactive, imaginative and determined attitude to delivering continuous improvement
* Organised and methodical, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
* Able to meet tight deadlines, willing to "go the extra mile" if necessary
* A positive "can do" attitude in relation to customer/sales support
* Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
