Design Manager – Manchester (5 days on site) – circa 65k plus benefits

a leading infrastructure consulting business
to recruit a Design Manager. This Manchester-based role offers an incredible opportunity to lead design and coordination processes within a world-class project team.
About the Role
As the Design Manager, you will ensure the successful delivery of the design elements for this extraordinary project. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the administration, coordination, and compliance of design-related tasks, ensuring planning and execution aligns with the contract, budget, and quality standards.
Your principal responsibilities will focus on:
* Overseeing and managing the BIM model to ensure compliance with the overarching project Information Management Requirements.
* Implementing the Reviewable Design Data (RDD) process, ensuring seamless coordination and administration.
* Managing contributions to design coordination meetings and supporting planning for RDD approvals.
* Monitoring the performance of the construction contractor to align with design development and concrete durability benchmarks.
* Identifying and resolving design changes that could influence project services.
* Coordinating technical input and managing design protocols in line with Schedule 8 of the Project Agreement.
* Ensuring compliance with CDM (Construction Design and Management) Regulations and supporting audit and assurance processes for construction deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
RDD Design Administration:
* Produce regular reports on RDD progress and attend meetings on behalf of the lead contractor
* Establish and monitor compliance with RDD obligations by key stakeholders
* Maintain an RDD register to ensure the clear tracking of design progress.
Design Coordination and Assurance:
* Track progress against the Design Development Programme, particularly critical path activities.
* Support compliance activities to ensure construction practices meet agreed design specifications.
* Oversee geotechnical, mechanical, and electrical engineering specifications, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
Asset and Technical Oversight:
* Manage the asset coordination process, including the design and delivery of materials, equipment, and installation requirements.
* Ensure proper testing, commissioning, and certification are met for completion and approval by the
Independent Technical Adviser
.
Qualifications and Experience
* Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
* Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modelling).
* At least 3+ years of experience in design administration or coordination within construction or infrastructure projects.
* Proven track record of managing compliance with design and construction processes.
* Understanding of CDM Regulations and other design-related statutory obligations.
