New Directions Education is currently recruiting enthusiastic and compassionate Trainee Teaching Assistants to join a specialist PMLD school in North Liverpool. 1. A dedicated specialist school in North Liverpool, catering for pupils aged 3–19 with complex physical, medical, sensory, and cognitive needs.

3. Facilities include hydrotherapy pools, sensory rooms, physiotherapy spaces, and specialist equipment to support pupils’ diverse needs.
The Role:
4. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work alongside experienced staff to support pupils with daily routines, learning tasks, and personal care.
5. Assist with sensory-based activities and therapeutic learning, tailored to meet individual pupil needs.
6. Support pupils on a 1:1 or small group basis, helping them access education in a meaningful and engaging way.
7. Learn how to use specialist strategies such as Makaton, PECS, and other communication tools.
The Ideal Candidate:
8. Enthusiastic, patient, and willing to learn, with a genuine passion for working with children with additional needs.
9. No prior school experience required – this role is ideal for someone looking to start a career in special education.
10. Experience in a care, support, or youth-based role would be beneficial but is not essential.
11. Full training and ongoing support will be provided, including opportunities for progression into qualified Teaching Assistant roles.
12. Must be willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check and register with the Update Service.
13. Able to provide references covering the last 5 years.
