PTS Ambulance Care Assistant - Wakefield
We have permanent full-time positions available based in Wakefield.
You must have a full UK manual driving licence to apply for this role.
Main duties of the job
Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust is committed to Equality and Diversity, with a range of occupational health and support services available to all staff.
You will support patients, their carers and healthcare representatives, transporting them on journeys to and from healthcare appointments, and helping hospitals discharge patients when they are fit enough to leave a hospital setting.
You must be able to consider each patient as an individual and meet a wide variety of communication and other needs.
Most importantly, you will need to be polite, professional, and eager to make the patient experience a pleasant one.
The Trust operates a formal programme of ongoing staff development, with training opportunities and offers good opportunities for career progression.
At times you may work on your own, or sometimes as part of a double crew transporting a wide range of patients across Yorkshire and Humberside.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Educational
* Level 2 entry requirement e.g. 3 GCSEs grade A*–C or NVQ level 2 qualification or equivalent experience.
* Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development.
Personal/Other
* Full driving licence with no more than three penalty points for new entrants to YAS or a maximum of six for existing YAS employees.
* Self disciplined and able to work on own initiative.
Experience
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills gained from experience of dealing with customers or members of the public.
* Background in a customer or patient orientated field.
* Proven ability to handle sensitive situations professionally, assertively and tactfully.
* Basic IT skills e.g. Word, Email.
