We’re working with a highly respected secondary school in Shenley, Hertfordshire, seeking a passionate and dedicated History Teacher to join their Humanities Department immediately. About the Role:
In this long-term position, you’ll be responsible for delivering History lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the possibility of teaching KS5 depending on your experience. You’ll inspire students through engaging lessons that foster curiosity and critical thinking, while also supporting their growth in a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Key responsibilities include:
* Teaching History from KS3 to KS4, with potential KS5 depending on qualifications.
* Planning and delivering dynamic, knowledge-based lessons to engage students.
* Adapting lessons to cater to different learning styles and abilities.
* Assessing student progress regularly and preparing them for GCSE History.
* Contributing to the development of the Humanities curriculum and participating in school-wide projects.
* Promoting a positive, respectful classroom atmosphere that supports the school’s behaviour policies.
* Taking part in extracurricular activities and wider school life.
What We’re Looking For:
* QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or an equivalent international qualification.
* A degree in History or a closely related subject.
* Experience teaching History at KS3 and KS4; KS5 experience is a bonus.
* A genuine passion for History and the ability to make it engaging and relevant for students.
* Strong classroom management skills with a focus on high expectations for behaviour.
* A commitment to student safeguarding and well-being.
* Enhanced DBS check (or a willingness to apply for one).
