Generator Winder
The Role
You will be required to support internal and external customers with Generator and Exciter installations, inspection, maintenance, fault finding, and repairs, including minor repair works through to full rewinds. This position requires technical competence in reading and interpreting engineering documents. Key responsibilities include:
* Interpretation of Electrical Winding Diagrams.
* Understanding winding processes and methodology, and applying correct solutions during inspections and repairs.
* Performing fault finding on windings.
* Assisting with diagnostic tests such as Iron Core Low Flux Tests, electrical tests, and Doppler Flow water measurements.
* Stripping and inspecting generator rotors, stators, and exciters, including cleaning, repair, and rebuild.
* Rewinding generator stators, rotors, and exciters.
The Candidate
You must have experience working on heavy-duty generators, ideally from 2MW to 1800MW. You will also have the following skills, experiences, and attributes:
* Ideally, you will hold a recognized time-served apprenticeship in armature winding of heavy electrical machines.
* At minimum, you must be a time-served fitter.
* Extensive knowledge of brazing techniques.
* Basic knowledge of electrical testing.
* Must have experience working on generators.
