Duties of the Role
We are seeking an Administrative Officer to join our Engagement and Allocations Team. This is a Fixed term contract for 12 months.
In this role, you will provide a customer focused response to students on a daily basis and during recruitment events, handling enquiries promptly and professionally via email, telephone, social media, and face-to-face. You will use the allocations and CRM systems to manage and forward enquiries appropriately.
Additionally, you will be responsible for managing communal living issues by addressing disputes and complaints effectively, ensuring a positive living environment for all students.
Your duties will include processing accommodation applications, efficiently allocating rooms to a diverse student population, managing student charges, coordinating room transfers, and organising move-overs. Strong administrative skills are essential to support the team with various administrative tasks and contribute to the smooth operation of the service.
Skills and qualifications required
You should be educated to A Level or equivalent and have strong administration skills. You should have considerable experience in providing efficient customer service and administration within a busy environment and be confident dealing with people. You will also have experience of Data Protection and data in-put, excellent numerical skills, good IT skills (experience in Microsoft package), and excellent team working, communication and organisational skills.
Appointment to this post will be made on a full-time (38 hours per week) permanent basis to be worked as required within the working operational window of 7.00am – 6.00pm, 5 days in 7 days. However, in the interests of working efficiency the University may from time to time review current working patterns. Changes to working patterns resulting from this will be subject to a minimum of 21 calendar days’ notice.
If you are a current University of Essex member of staff applying for the post as a secondment, you must discuss your application for this secondment with your line manager prior to making an application. Your Department/Section will need to consider cover arrangements for your absence before a decision can be reached as to the possibility of your release from your current post.
As this is a secondment for a fixed-term period of 12 months, it carries an expectation that the post holder will return to their current post at the end of this time.

Please note that continuation of a job share arrangement is dependent on there being two people available to undertake the arrangement.
