About Us

We are a Bristol-based social enterprise that supports Mums on benefits to transform their lives by rebuilding confidence and helping them on their journey to find work that works for them & their families.

Our programmes combine bespoke classroom training with a work placement, 121 career coaching and mentoring. By building confidence, ambition and employability skills we unlock the potential in our Mums and lay the foundations for a brighter future.

We exist to facilitate our Mums to become the best versions of themselves, whatever that looks like. Ambition is unique to an individual and we always aim to help someone identify it and then take the necessary steps to achieve it.

And we get results! Outcomes for participants include new careers, further training and crucially the creation of a vital support network.

Since our launch at the end of 2019 we’ve grown quickly and are now a close-knit team of sixteen. At the moment we’re running programmes in Bristol, Bath, South Gloucestershire and across Somerset with programmes starting in Birmingham in the new year.

The role

So that we’re able to continue delivering top quality training and coaching to our Mums, we’re looking for a super-organised person to look after all things admin at the Women’s Work Lab. This is a really critical role that works with the whole team and acts as the glue that holds us all together.

The Team Administrator is responsible for providing support across the whole team. Since our team works primarily remotely, it’s essential that our online records and communications are supremely accurate, organised, and up to date.

Key responsibilities include processing applications and enquiries as a first point of contact, preparing digital templates and resources for the delivery, training, and careers teams, and recording and monitoring participant data to enable effective support before, during, and after training programmes.

The role also involves coordinating venue bookings, managing resources, ordering printed materials, creating and maintaining online forms, supporting webinars and networking events, monitoring volunteer mentor records, collating evaluations to name just some of the tasks! We are looking for someone who thrives on keeping our team organised and running smoothly and is a master of multiple priorities.

A bit about you:

* A super organiser - there will be lots of multi-tasking and overlapping programmes at any one time, so the ability to effortlessly switch between tasks is important.
* Skilled and confident with computers, digital tools, and ICT. You should be someone who enjoys using technology and has genuine enthusiasm for learning or developing new programmes and processes. We work with Google for Business and use a range of other digital applications, and we’ll provide full training to help you get up to speed with the specific tools we use.
* Excellent attention to detail – we’re a busy team spinning many plates! Inevitably things slip from time-to-time and we’d love you to be the final quality control and backup for everyone - be it checking invoice amounts or typos on the website.
* Really strong verbal and written communication. Linked to the above, we need someone that feels confident drafting emails to our external partners and checking over things for the rest of the team when needed.
* Excellent time management and organisational skills - by the end of 2025 we will have supported more than 600 Mums, who continue to be part of the WWL family. There’s always more than one programme running at a time and this is going to continue to grow, so you need to excel at working on many different things at once.
* Willingness to learn and ability to be flexible. Linked to the above, we’re often doing things for the first time, so we need you to be comfortable trying new things.
* Intellectually curious - we don’t just want to develop our Mums, our teams’ development is also super important. We are looking for people who are keen to continue with their own learning and development journey.
* Able to sometimes ‘manage up’ - you will be working across the whole team with everyone wanting your help yesterday. An ability to prioritise and also find outcomes that suit everyone is key.
* Supportive and empathetic but able to create boundaries. Whilst we know that the WWL is obviously the best place to work (!), some days it can feel heavy when things don’t go our Mums’ way. It’s important that you’re able to draw the line between work & home as this is something we take really seriously.

All candidates will be required to provide evidence of eligibility to work in the UK for the duration of the contract.

The Women’s Work Lab is an equal-opportunity employer and encourages applications from candidates from all backgrounds. We would like our team to fully reflect the diversity of the women who participate in our programmes and the communities they live within. We particularly welcome applications from women who have graduated from the WWL programme.

The Detail

* This role is for 30 hours per week (times/days tbc) and we are huge advocates of flexible working.
* The WWL is based in Bristol but works across the region including Bath, South Gloucestershire and Somerset. We need someone who understands both the local community and geography of these locations.
* The Women’s Work Lab has an office space in central Bristol. We support remote working for team members but would expect the post holder to be in the office in person at least once a week. There will also be a number of in person team days or statutory training days which you would be expected to attend - these will be arranged with plenty of advance notice.
* A salary of £24,000 FTE (pro rata) plus benefits including pension and statutory holiday allowance (pro rata to 30 hours a week) plus a birthday day off and office closure over Christmas.

Please apply by Tuesday October 14th by sending us your CV and a covering letter to: samantha@womensworklab.co.uk
