Overview OB Construction is an SME contractor seeking an Accounts/Finance Professional to support the finance function and assist the Financial Controller with day-to-day accounting activities. We welcome applications from part-qualified through to qualified candidates; multiple roles available; role and job title will be determined based on qualifications and demonstrable experience. Key Responsibilities Assist the Financial Controller with month-end processes including journals, balance sheet reconciliations and accruals (level of ownership will be agreed based on experience). Process AP and AR, supplier payments and creditor reconciliations. Maintain and reconcile bank accounts and assist with day-to-day cashflow monitoring. Prepare VAT returns and support compliance activities. Support payroll processing and liaise with payroll provider where applicable. Prepare monthly management reporting, including P&L and variance analysis, as required. Support the Financial Controller with audit and year-end preparation activities, providing required schedules and information (as required). Drive continuous improvement of accounting processes and documentation; and support change initiatives within the finance function. Provide ad-hoc financial and administrative support to the leadership team. Essential Requirements Part-qualified (CIMA/ACCA) OR equivalent commercial accounting experience (minimum 1218 months) with demonstrable month-end, reconciliations and transactional competence. Practical experience with month-end tasks and balance sheet reconciliations. Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail. Good Excel skills and willingness to learn accounting software used by the business (XERO) Desirable Fully qualified (CIMA/ACCA) or studying towards full qualification. Experience with Sage/Xero/QuickBooks or similar accounting packages and strong IT skills Experience in construction, manufacturing or SME environments. Experience of monthly management reporting Experience of process improvement Experience of supporting change management initiatives within the finance function.
