Closing Date: 25 July 2025 The Role The purpose of this post within the School of Psychology ( https://www.ncl.ac.uk/psychology/ ) is to contribute to the delivery of high-quality teaching in Psychology with a particular focus on postgraduate programmes, including the MSc Foundations in Clinical Psychology. The post holder will be expected to contribute to teaching, tutoring and supervision on the MSc Foundations in Clinical Psychology. They will also contribute to activities which facilitate the development of clinical skills relevant to evidence-based psychological interventions. Please direct informal enquiries to Dr Gavin Clark – gavin.clark@newcastle.ac.uk Key Accountabilities To contribute to and develop teaching and module leadership in the field of evidence-based psychological practice, professional issues and applied clinical psychology skills. To embed research and clinical expertise into teaching where possible, but notably through the supervision of MSc projects in the School. To participate in external activities related to teaching and research. To disseminate research results through appropriate channels. To act as a personal tutor to a group of students. To undertake administrative duties as deemed necessary, including participation in relevant School and Faculty committees and activities. The Person (Essential) Knowledge, Skills and Experience Specialist knowledge in evidence-based psychological interventions, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision delivered with the aim of developing applied clinical skills. Knowledge and ability to contribute to the delivery of postgraduate teaching and project supervision with an interest in developing module leadership. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a wide range of stakeholders (including academic, clinical and non-academic audiences). Excellent organisational, administrative and planning skills. Experience of leadership and citizenship roles commensurate with career stage and pathway. Willingness and ability to engage in leadership roles within the School. Ability and willingness to work as part of a team and on own initiative. Qualifications PhD in Psychology or Professional Doctorate (e.g., DClinPsy). Desirable Higher Education Teaching qualification or equivalent experience (e.g. Fellowship of the HEA). Post-graduate level training in clinical psychology, counselling psychology or cognitive behavioural therapy. Knowledge of NHS services and the role of psychological services within the NHS.
