Job Title:Senior Procurement Practitioner

Location: Barrow-in-Furness OR Frimley. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role

Salary: Competitive

What you’ll be doing:

* Support the security culture by raising security awareness among employees, management and the community in the local area

* Carry out transactional procurement activity including raising Request for Quotations, negotiating price and lead times, creating and managing purchase orders, expediting delivery and managing payments

* Undertake supplier assessment and due diligence activity to ensure the effective selection of suppliers to meet business needs

* Communicate with suppliers and internal / external stakeholders – resolving a wide variety of routine problems and quality issues, escalating complex / high impact issues when necessary

* Manage systems such as SAP, Teamcenter with quality, accurate information relating to the procurement activity, in accordance with document management policy and process

* Support the team in the preparation of material in support of major subcontracts, raising requests for information, issuing invitation to tenders and contract packs as well as managing data deliverables and supplier visits

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

* Knowledge of procurement principles and practices

* Understanding of negotiation and supplier management techniques

* Knowledge of in-scope product / service being provided to ensure requirements are met with respect to safety and environmental management

* Understanding of commercial aspects of contracts (with support)

Desirable:

* Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) qualification or equivalent

The Integrated Combat Systems Team:

The Integrated Combat Systems Supply Chain team are responsible for managing major high value and complex contracts with significant defence suppliers. This opportunity will provide you with fantastic opportunities to gain skills and experience and build a strong network in support of your future career goals and ambitions. As a Senior Supply Chain Practitioner at BAE Systems, you will be working with a number of Supply Chain and cross-functionally internally and externally, ensuring you and your team deliver Scope and fulfil Processes, Toolsets & Reporting requirements. This is a fast paced, commercially driven procurement environment with a varied range of development opportunities, working as part of a diverse team to deliver part of the UK’s National Defence Programme. We offer relocation support across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
