Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Cambridge
Salary: £28,000 – £34,000
Contract: Permanent

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for a Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading UK manufacturer of high-end process machinery.

You’ll be working within a skilled design team, developing bespoke engineering solutions and supporting the creation of complex machinery used in advanced industrial applications.

The role is focused on 3D mechanical design using SolidWorks, with involvement across the full design lifecycle from concept through to detailed manufacture and build support.

This is a great opportunity for a recent graduate who wants structured training, real project exposure, and long-term career development within a high-performing engineering environment.

The Role

* Mechanical design of bespoke process machinery using SolidWorks

* Development of 3D models and detailed engineering drawings

* Support design projects from concept through to manufacture

* Work closely with senior engineers and production teams

* Assist with design improvements, modifications, and product development

* Gain exposure to full lifecycle engineering projects

* Participate in design reviews and technical discussions

* Develop understanding of manufacturability and assembly requirements

The Candidate

To be successful in this role, you will have:

* A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline

* Ideally strong A-Level results in Maths and Physics

* Experience or academic exposure to sheet metal design and manufacturing processes (ESSENTIAL)

* Understanding of how sheet metal components are formed, designed, and assembled

* SolidWorks experience (academic or project-based)

* A genuine interest in mechanical design and machinery development

* Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability

* Must be eligible to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)

* Must hold a full UK driving licence due to site location
