Healthcare Assistant

Please note, that we are currently unable to offer sponsorship for Band 2 Healthcare Assistant/Support Worker roles as they do not meet the UK Visas and Immigration criteria.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and flexible Healthcare Assistant to join our established team of nursing staff based atWoodchurch Ward in the Thanet Mental Health Unit in Margate. The role involves providing care and support to inpatients currently experiencing acute mental health difficulties requiring an inpatient admission. The ward cares for older adults and we are at present a female only ward caring for 15 patients.Commitment to meeting the needs of people with mental health problems and valuing their rights is a prerequisite.You will be required to adopt a flexible working pattern and be committed to self-development and training.


Main duties of the job

Promoting patient's self-care and supporting with activities of daily living with reference to the care plan.

Maintaining a clean and healthy caring environment and assisting patients in all aspects of daily living skills as required.

Escorting patients as required as part of their care and treatment plan.

Serving food/assisting with cooking and promoting self-catering as required to meet individual care plan needs.

Working a full range of shifts as per the requirements of the service. May also be required, at times, to work at other Trust units and/or sites.

Physically fit and able to carry out all duties following successful completion of physical interventions training (PMVA) as required.

Person Specification


Training & Qualifications

* NVQ level 2
* Computer Literate


Experience

* Experience of working in mental health


Knowledge and Skills

* A working understanding of mental health conditions appropriate to the setting
* Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
* Be competent in the use of English and Maths
