A registered nurse/Allied Health practitioner with highly developed knowledge, skills, and clinical expertise in acute medical care. The advanced clinical practitioner will provide clinical support to the existing junior medical staff and work in conjunction with the consultants in the Emergency Department, with the overall aim of improving quality of care and health outcomes for patients.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide professional advice to patients, carers, and colleagues.
2. Deliver sensitive, evidence-based patient care to a specific caseload of patients.
3. Maintain clinical excellence underpinned by evidence-based practice.
4. Undertake clinical audits and participate in research and development.
5. Demonstrate effective clinical leadership.
6. Specialize in providing comprehensive, individualized care.
7. Demonstrate competence in clinical, diagnostic, and examination skills, making management recommendations.
8. Make clinical judgments using complex information, including interpretation of results, and take appropriate actions.
9. Identify suitable patients for assessment, diagnosis, and treatment independently.
10. Ensure documentation complies with Trust and NMC clinical governance standards.
11. Make autonomous, professional decisions accountable to the ACP role.
12. Engage in self-directed learning, bedside teaching, and protected postgraduate education.
13. Initiate and undertake preliminary investigations following clinical assessments under agreed protocols.
14. Implement decisions made by senior medical staff.
15. Perform advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
16. Conduct independent clinical reviews and formulate individual management plans.
17. Make appropriate referrals to specialties and allied health professions for ED patient management.
18. Undertake research and audits within the service as required.
19. Develop practice-based protocols to lead advanced clinical practice.
