Role Overview:
Morgan Philips Specialist Recruitment are presently representing a world leading professional services firm in their search for an Assistant General Counsel to join their In-House Legal Team. Our client is seeking an experienced commercial lawyer focused on technology, data privacy, data protection, and AI. The successful candidate will deliver practical and business-focused legal advice to our business and corporate services partners on a worldwide basis.
Key Accountabilities:
* Provide legal support on a wide range of legal and regulatory matters for a global professional services organisation.
* Advise on technology, data privacy, data protection, AI, and related matters, and provide general support on other day-to-day commercial and regulatory legal matters which arise.
* Help manage the organisation's compliance with all relevant laws and regulations in applicable jurisdictions and applicable network policies.
* Support our Technology and Risk Management teams by providing legal support for their activities.
* Help develop and implement governance and operational policies, procedures, and playbooks.
* Review and advise on new services and solutions including the company governance process and specialized legal and regulatory issues focused on technology, data privacy, data protection, and AI.
* Manage external legal counsel in multiple jurisdictions and ensure work is done on a cost-effective and efficient basis.
* Balance the need to deliver practical and business-focused advice while managing company risk appetite and compliance obligations.
* Make presentations and write articles on important legal topics.
* Mentor and support junior members of the team.
About You:
* Experienced UK qualified lawyer (or equivalent if qualified outside of the UK) with significant time spent at a major law firm (other relevant in-house experience is desirable as an add-on).
* Expert level legal skills with a demonstrated ability to lead complex legal and regulatory matters.
* An advanced risk management and strategic mindset with the ability to quickly spot issues and recommend mitigation options that enable the business to meet our objectives without taking on unacceptable risks.
* Expertise negotiating, drafting, and reviewing transaction and commercial agreements and advising on laws and regulations across multiple jurisdictions.
* Able to work independently and manage complex files while also collaborating with business teams.
* Balances the needs and demands of a fast-growing global business with legal and compliance risk management.
* Self-motivated and thrives in a fast-paced environment working with many different global stakeholders.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
