Overview
We are delighted to invite applications for a substantive Consultant post within our forward-thinking and supportive team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the continued development of our service and to shape patient care within a dynamic clinical environment. We welcome candidates with subspecialty interests that complement their expertise; however, experience within lung cancer services would be particularly advantageous. The successful applicant will join a committed multidisciplinary team, with access to a wide range of resources and opportunities for professional development.
This is a full-time post, though applications for part-time or job-share arrangements are welcome.
Responsibilities
* This is a 10 PA post, comprising 8 PAs of Direct Clinical Care (DCC), 1 PA of Supporting Professional Activity (SPA) for CPD and revalidation, and 1 SPA (to be agreed) which may include subspecialty leadership, service development, governance, or other agreed responsibilities.
* Inpatient and outpatient respiratory care, participation in the out-of-hours respiratory on-call and weekend rota (currently 1:10), and contribution to procedural services.
* Procedural competence in pleural procedures, bronchoscopy and/or endobronchial ultrasound would be advantageous, depending on experience and subspecialist expertise.
* Provide clinical supervision for doctors in training and contribute to the teaching of medical students from Brighton and Sussex Medical School.
* Two out-patient clinics per week (one general and one sub-specialist respiratory clinic) determined by the skills and expertise of the successful applicant; allocation depends on interests and experience.
* Clinic templates generally allow 15 minutes for follow-ups and 30 minutes for new patients.
* Opportunity to contribute to ambulatory pleural lists (twice weekly), bronchoscopy and EBUS lists, dependent on experience.
