This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate with an interest and experience in working with young people experiencing mental health crises. The Crisis Care Service operates 24/7, providing intervention and support to children, young people, and families during mental health crises.
This role is within a department that operates on a 24/7 shift basis, enabling staff to qualify for unsocial hours enhancements in addition to their basic pay.
The post holder will contribute significantly to the clinical work of the multidisciplinary team, including accepting, prioritising, and assessing urgent referrals for children and their families.
Clinicians will work across Alder Hey Hospital and Ormskirk District General Hospital, in both Accident and Emergency departments and inpatient wards, conducting bio-psycho-social assessments on children and young people in mental health crisis.
Another key function of this role is supporting callers to the crisis care line, which offers advice and guidance to those in crisis 24/7.
Working as part of the MDT, clinicians will formulate risk management and safe discharge plans with support from senior clinicians. The post holder will also support junior staff through supervision and mentorship and participate in service development and national initiatives.
Since April 2020, the Crisis Care team has operated as a 24-hour service to support children, young people, and families experiencing mental health crises in Sefton and Liverpool.
The service comprises Psychiatry, Clinical Psychology, Psychotherapy, Nursing, Social Workers, Keyworkers, and Assistant Psychologists, providing urgent response and assessment 24/7, along with support for parents/carers and consultation for other involved professionals.
