The Oldham Outpatient Cherrywood is based on the ground floor in The Royal Oldham Hospital. The post-holder will be based with the rest of the team and provide middle grade medical input to the team. This role is led by a full-time consultant psychiatrist who offers clinical support and advice to all including care coordinators around medical treatment, formulation of cases and developing appropriate treatment plans and will provide clinical and managerial supervision to the successful applicant. West sector, case load of around 500 patients.
The post holder will be expected to offer a senior level of support for the team with the consultant in Outpatient and close working with the other members of the medical team including consultants and resident doctors. A certain amount of leadership is expected especially clinically in terms of medicines management, ensuring those in RED zoning are supported daily, proactively linking in with team clinicians at times of clinical need. Escalation to senior practitioners and consultants for additional support is expected of the role. You will continue to receive weekly supervision, leave permitting, from the relevant Consultant and additionally clinical supervision as and when required depending on need.

1.2.1 Clinical

iii. MHA Assessments Sometimes MHA assessments are required and hopefully with s12 course completed, you will undertake these assessments. It is an expectation that you will be on the 2nd tier on call rota and will work towards being on this in due course.
Multi agency working
The post holder will be expected to be involved in working closely with other agencies when part of their statutory duties, and close working relationships have been developed between other parts of the mental health services, e.g. with the CMHT for transfer of responsibility and the CAMHS when joint work is undertaken with patients aged 16 – 18 years, and it is expected that the post holder will maintain and develop such relationships over time.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

iv. Medication reconciliation
This is a central and critical function of this post, namely leading on medicines reconciliation for our patients on HTT Boards. Namely this involves ensuring that the medications they are taking are recorded on the specific kardex’s in HTT and any changes recorded clearly.

QUALIFICATIONS
Essential criteria
* MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
Desirable criteria
* Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
* MRCPsych or equivalent
ELIGIBILITY
Essential criteria
* Fully registered with the GMC with a license to practice at the time of appointment.
Desirable criteria
* In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice
* Section 12 approved or within 3 months of approval
CLINICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
* A minimum of 4 years post graduate experience, at CT, ST or Staff Grade level Experience relevant to working Age Psychiatry. Experience of teaching and training Good knowledge in community psychiatry
* Evidence of experience and knowledge of a range of psychological interventions for this patient group
* Good clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge
* Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
* Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty
* Makes decisions based on evidence and experience including the contribution of others
* Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA
Desirable criteria
* Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service
* Evidence of experience of and enthusiasm for service development and understanding of D.O.H strategy regarding this area of clinical work and the challenges and process of implementation.
* Recent experience and training in older age psychiatry with good working knowledge of assessment and management of people with dementia and delirium.
