Overview
FT Produce Sales Manager (H) at Food Lion. The role supports store operations to meet financial and sales goals, builds associate and customer relations, and promotes a strong culture aligned with Food Lion Strategy. Maintains solid communications with the management team, all store associates, and across the organization.
Responsibilities
* Manage the Produce Department, including hiring, training and developing department associates
* Supervise performance of department duties and provide ongoing performance management, training and formal appraisals for direct reports
* Daily management of labor and coaching of associates to achieve productivity expectations
* Provide leadership to promote a culture reflecting Guiding Principles, Core Values, Vision and Strategy
* Support achievement of budgeted financial and operating results
* Deliver enthusiastic customer service and create a positive shopping experience
* Role model outstanding customer service and use knowledge of department products to meet or exceed customer expectations
* Control store expenses through proper ordering, and care for supplies and equipment
* Understand and use company tools such as financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, productivity, ordering, and business information systems
* Ensure department appearance, quality, variety, workplace safety, food safety and sanitation
* Ensure Produce Department schedules provide extraordinary customer service
* Understand scheduling, sales, projections, wage percent, interviewing, hiring, training, company information, and other necessary management items
* Ensure ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning and displaying of merchandise follow policies and guidelines
* Observe and correct unsafe conditions and report accidents per Food Lion procedures
* Monitor shrink and coach associates to prevent losses
* Ensure advertising and sales promotion materials and signage are used appropriately
* Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations
* Adhere to company guidelines, policies and standard practices
* Maintain security standards
* Complete required CBT, Training Packet and Training Aid courses
* Recognize accomplishments and provide constructive counseling to improve customer satisfaction and store sales
* Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
* High school graduate or equivalent preferred
* Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication and customer service skills
* Good understanding of store operations preferred
* Ability to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job
* Ability to use technical information to solve problems
* Ability to lead and direct others
* Must meet minimum age requirements for specific job functions
* Must be able to meet physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodations
* Must be accredited by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or similar as a “Certified Food Safety Manager” or be able to obtain accreditation within 90 days of employment; accreditation must be maintained while employed
Physical Requirements
* Ability to use computers and other communication systems
* Ability to use handheld computers for orders, mark downs, scan outs, and inventory
* Stand 100% of the time; frequent walking
* Push or pull up to 2000 pounds with equipment
* Perform repetitive hand and arm motions
* Bend and lift products weighing up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, and ~100 lbs. on occasion
* Handle cleaning and packaging materials
* Frequent reaching and grasping at waist level; occasional overhead
* Meet established volume activity standards
* Tolerate extreme temperatures up to 20 minutes at a time
* Visual ability to check invoices, dates, and other documents
