About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Kirkby. You will work closely with pupils who require additional support with speech and language development, helping them to access the curriculum and thrive in the classroom.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide targeted support for pupils with SLCN across EYFS and KS1/KS2.
* Implement speech and language strategies under the guidance of the SENCO and external specialists.
* Assist in creating engaging resources and activities to promote communication skills.
* Monitor progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents.
* Support the wider classroom environment and contribute to a positive learning atmosphere.
Ideal Candidate
* Experience supporting children with SLCN or other SEND needs (school-based or relevant setting).
* Knowledge of speech and language interventions (e.g., ELKLAN training desirable but not essential).
* Patient, empathetic, and passionate about helping children reach their potential.
* Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with staff and parents.
* Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) preferred.
